There are many ways to perform magic, sitting, standing, up close or on a stage, but learning how to do is the difficult part. Most magicians will not teach anyone their tricks, unless they are already a magician which is a catch-22. It’s impossible to learn unless you already know. Almost every magician learns their first tricks from magic books and practices them in the privacy of their home.

Magic books are one of the most popular ways of learning magic. Many have in depth guides and illustrations that can take even the most beginning magician to the point where they can perform in front of large audiences. Practice makes perfect and mistakes can ruin any magician’s reputation.

Many magic books for beginners come with various supplies that are commonly used among magicians. These supplies often include a regular deck of playing cards and instructions on how to perform with them. Other commonly found items are neckerchiefs that can be hidden in false thumbs and a magic wand that can change from large to small with very little effort.
